Usually when I start a design I don't have any particular idea in mind, I just start moving the pen around and go with whatever starts to form,

But this time I kind of had an idea of what I wanted to do, at least I knew I wanted to do a pile of buildings leading up to a point from a fairly narrow base

As if you were looking from a balcony out onto a crowded village that veered up the side of a mountain

I started with the larger building behind the farthest building to the left, and worked my way around that, I ended up with very strong line work and buildings created almost entirely of straight lines, with a good contrast between the light walls and dark roofs

This was originally done in ballpoint pen, then later touched up in photoshop
